Value investing resembles a low-key religious movement, with patron saints, revered texts and holy writ. Within every religious movement, a few adherents develop Web sites to carry their message to the cybermasses. Some of these Web sites carry little more than propaganda; others contain useful information and links to other sites of interest. Here are some of the more useful sites on value investing.

This site presents good, basic information on value investing, as well as links to news services, stock exchanges and personal finance Web sites, with audio commentary on stocks held by ABC Funds, whose founder, Irwin Michael, created the site.

This Merrill Lynch Web site provides a primer on value investing and a brief explanation of some of the ratios that value investors use to evaluate a stock.

If you need reassurance that value investing works, go to this site and click on Research + Indexes. The Canadian Equity Style Indexes (see also page 8) show that value investing has performed over the last 10 years better than other styles, which isn't bad considering the two-year aberration that we just experienced.
